Feedback

Here is the feedback I got from my first test:

“Was this particular thing fun? If not, can you tell me why?”
Tester 1: Yeah, reminds of portal and the cube
Tester 2: A little boring, once you know what to do it's simple
Tester 3: No, would enjoy more in it
"Were the controls easy to use and intuitive? If not, when did you struggle?”
Tester 1: Want to be able to go back to the first player, maybe press 2
Tester 2: Controls were okay, the bridge was easy but I didn't know where to go.
Tester 3: Yeah pretty straight forward but wouldn't know to process pawn or have know to use it to block
"Did you know what to do? If not, when?”
Tester 1: A bit lost
Tester 2: Didn't know to press buttons
Tester 3: The path is clear but pawn is confusing
"What do you think would make this better?"
Tester 1: Clearer dialogue, Add audio
Tester 2: Environment cues, Felt lost, Too easy, maybe add more bridges and buttons
Tester 3: It would be cool if the pawn follows you, I don't want the pawn to die if I'm too slow, Hide the button maybe, Make it so only the pawn can access something

All of this was very helpful and in the last week I began implementing some of them:

  • Now the player can switch back and forth with the pawn by pressing E.
  • There is a UI to give instructions to the player
  • I made the path more straight forward with less open space.
  • Now the turret AI will only target the player and not the pawn, allowing the player to possess the pawn to move past the turret.
  • There is now more space for more bridges.

My next steps:

  • Implement follow code
  • Add more bridges
  • A way to turn off the turret
  • Death from the turret
